Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
A medium-bodied dry red with aromas of sweet tobacco, rich red fruits, and woody spice. With supple tannins and a lingering finish, this wine strikes a beautiful balance between fruit, earth, and spice characteristics.
Vineyard Notes
Our Zingaro is made from a blend of Zinfandel sourced from four growers in the cool-climate Russian River Valley AVA in northern Sonoma County. These old vines produce fewer, more concentrated clusters, which add an extra layer of depth and complexity to the finished wine. The cool climate of this growing region also allows for slow ripening of the fruit, resulting in full flavor development and increased complexity.
Winemaker Notes
"The 2014 Napa Valley wine grape harvest was a year of exceptional quality. The winter was one of the driest on record in Napa Valley, with approximately half of the normal rainfall. However, rains in late February and early March provided water to the vines just as they were beginning bud break. The spring was warm and berry sizes were smaller and with more concentrated flavors, and the overall quality, depth of flavor and excellent balance and maturity in the grapes bodes well for the vintage.” - Brooks Painter, Director of Winemaking
Food Pairing Notes
This food-friendly, peppery Zinfandel pairs well with roasted vegetables, grilled burgers with caramelized onions, curries, and a variety of barbecue dishes.
