Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Sangiovese is principally estate grown
Winemaker Notes
Sangiovese is an historic red wine grape variety originating in Northern Italy where it is recognized as the superior variety in Tuscany and elsewhere. It often forms part of a blend to create harmonious, focused food wines. Sangiovese is becoming increasingly popular as a red wine grape and some winemakers use Sangiovese to make rosé wines. The wine was created principally from grapes harvested from the vineyards surrounding the "Castello."
Food Pairing Notes
It pairs quite well with fish in a rich sauce, grilled meats and vegetables in garlic and olive oil, pastas with mild sausage and antipasti with flavorful cheeses.

This is surprisinly very welll made and balance to the last drop. I have tried many of the italian sangiovese but nothing like this one. I highly recommend.

Some friends of ours visited Castello di Amorosa the other month. They purchased a bottle of Sangiovese 2009 and brought back to Pennsylvania with them. Last evening my wife and I went to dinner with our friends, but before leaving they shared this bottle of wine with us. I found it had a great nose with a smell of light toast, fresh berry, and light cherry. It had great legs and a beautiful full body finish. The taste proved equally as excellent with lots of tannin, light smoke, dark berries, and light licorice. This was a wonderful bottle of wine and start to a great evening.

Tried and felt in love with this wine. I did the wine testing at the Castello and after trying many reds... I got 6 bottles of this delicious wine. If you go SF, don't miss this place; excellent environment; my 9 & 5 year old kids had a blast!

Castello's Sangiovese is the best of its kind. We've tried San's before and generally like them but Castello's was amazing. We recently shared 1 one of the btls we bought w/ our friends in Va. They loved it too. Buying more during Castello's sale and gifting some to our friends too!
