The brilliant Il Barone boasts an opaque purple color as well as a beautiful sweet nose of blackberries, black currants, camphor, subtle toasty oak, and espresso roast. Rich and full-bodied with sweet tannin, a hint of smoked meats, deep fruit, and an impeccable balance, purity and texture. The palate is rich and well-structured, with just enough acidity to keep the lingering finish fresh and clean.

A wax sealed bottle is a beautiful addition to your wine rack, but can be intimidating when it comes time to open it.  This is easier than you may think!  Simply plunge your corkscrew through the wax, as if it were not even there.  Lift the cork slightly and wipe any wax crumbles from the opening.  Pull the cork the rest of the way out and enjoy!

Food Pairing Notes
This award winning, full-bodied red wine is excellent with red meats, especially braised, cured, grilled or roasted beef dishes. For a great dinner, pair this Il Barone with a grilled rib-eye steak or Osso Buco. Try it also with just a good, grilled hamburger piled high with onions and mushrooms.

i bought this bottle at the castle in October of 2012 from a salesman named Paulo. Wine there was very good but expensive. I did not open the bottle i bought until February, 2013. I was dissapointed with the flavor this time. Perhaps i should have opened it sooner but Paulo told me it was good for 20 Years.

We tasted this wine at Castello Di Amorosa on 3/15/13 and it is the best wine we have tasted since the Grgich 1997 & 1999 Yountville Cab. We still have both those Grgich wines in our cellar. We have collected wine for many years and right now this 2007 vintage is the best on the planet IMO. A huge wine that when stored propery in cellar condtions (temp 56.6 degrees) will last for many years.
