Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Perfumed aromas of dried flowers, red plum, sweet exotic spices and wild berry flavors framed by supple, toasty oak. The wine shows excellent balance between acidity and ripe cranberry/pomegranate flavors with a supple, polished perception on the palate. The wine finishes with fine, textured tannins.
Vineyard Notes
This wine was created principally from grapes harvested from the vineyards surrounding the Castello in the Diamond Mountain District, as well as fruit from the Mount Veeder and Atlas Peak AVAs
Winemaker Notes
Sangiovese is an historic red wine grape variety originating in Northern Italy where it is recognized as the superior variety. It often forms part of a blend to create harmonious, focused food wines. Sangiovese is becoming increasingly popular as a red wine grape and some winemakers use Sangiovese to make rosé wines.
Food Pairing Notes
This wine pairs quite well with fish in a rich sauce, pastas with mild sausage and antipasti with flavorful cheeses.
