I rarely rate anything excellent but Very Good just did not do this justice! I first tasted this wine in 2009, 2 years after I had purchased it for $60. It was the 2007 I had been saving for a special anniversary! I had originally purchased it when visiting the Castle with my daughter after her graduation. It was so wonderful..full of deep fruit flavors but not sweet, like dessert wine, I drank it every evening until it was gone! Each glass better then the last. I have since bought 2 more 07 and the 09 to Celebrate again!

IL BARONE - It doesn't get any better than this. I wouldn't consider myself a wine aficionado but more an enthusiast. Still I've tasted a lot of wines over the years and Castello's IL BARONE is as good as it gets. I visited the Castello in September of 2012. It is now Feb of 2013 and in that 6 months I've purchased at least a dozen bottles this wine (09 and 07). It is simply superb. In the words of my good friend and wine enthusiast K. Bellmon regarding IL BARONE "That is some good sh-t!"
