Dario Sattui, great grandson of San Francisco California pioneer vintner, Vittorio Sattui, was born in San Francisco in 1941 and raised in San Francisco and Fairfax in Marin County. He attended Drake High School and then College of Marin.  As a child, Sattui was an entrepreneur and loved playing sports.  He started various businesses in grammar school, high school and college and gained valuable experience in the basics of business.

Georg Salzner, President

Austrian-born, food and wine aficionado, Georg Salzner joined Castello di Amorosa as president in 2008. At the young age of 16, the legal drinking age in Austria, Salzner developed a passion for food and wine which led him to an extensive career in wine and food management. Prior to joining Castello di Amorosa, Salzner spent five years as Banquet Manager, Sommelier and Wine Buyer at the famous, Watergate Hotel in Washington D.C.

Brooks Painter, Winemaker

Brooks Painter has been a winemaker for nearly 30 years.  He has experience making ultra-premium varietal wines from throughout the many different grape-growing regions of California.  His current position is Director of Winemaking for Castello di Amorosa in Calistoga, California. His previous position was Winemaking Operations Manager at Robert Mondavi Winery in Oakville, California, and Brooks was formerly with Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, Leeward Winery and Felton-Empire Vineyards.

Lupo, Castle Mascot and Tour Escort

Lupo (Italian for Wolf) may be seen from time to time escorting guests on tours when led by owner, Dario Sattui. (We suspect he knows the tour route better than even Dario!) Lupo, a long-haired German Shepherd has been at the Castle for over seven years and prides himself on being able to determine the difference between the barrel aged Chardonnay and the steel aged Chardonnay. Ask him which he prefers when you catch up to him.
