The Grand Barrel Room

The Romans may have designed crossvaulted ceilings for Italy, but Dario Sattui designed this structurally amazing barrel room for the Castello. At 12,000 square feet, this romantic, beautifully designed room boasts 40 cross-vaults with ribbing—crafted from ancient hand made bricks.

The Castello stores its wines in this room where they rest and become immersed with the nuances, spices, and subtle flavors of the French oak barrels in which they age.

Truly a breathtaking room, the Castello has used this room in support of local charity events and has hosted many dignitaries including Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jerry Rice, Nancy Pelosi, Chef Rachel Ray, Clint Black, Sir James Galway and Frederica Von Stade. Guests can view this room when on one of our Guided Tours.

The Chapel

Although our permit does not allow us to hold weddings at the Castello, we do have a beautiful Chapel, which is often used as a gathering place for guests heading off to tour the Castello or as an inclement weather option.

The Great Hall

The Great Hall of the Castello is the room wherein the baron and baroness would hold court and conduct the royal business of the day. once business was over, they may hold elaborate banquets with sumptuous foods and pour great wines.

The Great Hall is the most highly appointed room in the castle, complete with hand painted frescoes, a working fireplace brought over from Tuscany, and long, hand carved tables stretching the length of this beautiful room.

Today, the Great Hall holds approximately 140 people for the finest presentation of food and wine pairings, blind tastings, very special wine club events, and wine and food education events held “Castello style.”

A truly unique room in which to share the ultimate food and wine adventure with your family and friends.

Il Passito Room

Quietly beautiful, the Il Passito room is a more contemplative, wonderfully discreet room for our Wine Club members to enjoy seated tastings along with cheese and charcuterie plates.

The room overlooks the Courtyard and includes a spacious patio area tucked away behind the Castello where guests can enjoy the Napa Valley sunshine on warm days.

Spacious and serene, the room offers the chance to run away from the rush of contemporary life and to slip back into a time long ago.

The Courtyard

The 13th century Courtyard is located in the heart of the Castello and is surrounded by walls of hand-squared stone and ancient brick, Tuscan-style breezeways and loggias. Courtyards were the center life in any Medieval palace, so it remains for your event; central, picturesque stunning. Vibrant during the day but majestic and regal at night, a unique wine and food pairing - alfresco - awaits you.
