We are delighted to offer your group a unique opportunity to personally experience the essence of winemaking. Your experience will be in depth, genuinely educational, hands on - but lots of fun too! After a tour of the castle led by one of our knowledgable guides, we take your group back in time for their own very squishy and fun grape stomp. Add a luncheon and make a full day of teambuilding at the Castello! Available only during harvest season, late September through November.
Join our knowledgeable staff as you take up the beaker and syringe and develop your own "secret" formula from our Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon wines! A great way to learn about the craft of winemaking while tasting some new blends! The term “Super Tuscan” is used to describe the pioneering wines labeled as “Vini da Tavola” made in the central Italian region of Toscana in the 1970’s. Super Tuscans often used other grapes, especially Cabernet Sauvignon, making them ineligible for DOCG classification under traditional rules. Today, the term refers to Tuscan red wines of very high quality that buck the traditional and allow for a new blending. Now, your team of 4-5 people is the winemaker and creates its own “Super Tuscan” wine! The winning teams members will receive a bottle of current vintage Reserve Chardonnay or Cabernet Sauvignon. For tie braking purposes, groups will be asked to present their wines marketing price and target market goals.
Teams will be set together and given satin blindfolds. They will be poured 5 tastes of wine in different orders for each team to determine the color, style, type, & varietal of the wines and then they will have to record their decisions. The winning teams members will receive a bottle of Bien Nacido Reserve Chardonnay. For tie braking purposes, a blended wine will be brought out and teams will be asked to identify the varietals used in the blend.
A scavenger hunt in a castle? Come on! Once your group has enjoyed a regular tour & tasting led by a knowledgable guide, they are split into teams and are assigned a color and given their first of 5 clues. Clues will be based on information they heard in the Guided Tour and will take them throughout the top layers of the castle only. Each of the teams will be given a de-briefing of the game details and then sent on their way…
All groups get the clues in a different order. Upon finding the right location/answer to the clue they will find the next clue for their colored team, and so on and so forth until they get to their last clue which will send them all to the same location – for the finish. The first team to finish will receive a bottle of their favorite wine they tried during the tasting for each member of the winning team.
